WLOQ Doubles Signal Strength
Press Release December 10, 2008

103.1 WLOQ, Orlando Doubles Signal Strength

103.1 WLOQ-FM Radio, Orlando, FL, has received approval to double its broadcast power, and in fact will be doubling its FM tower height to serve a larger and expanding Central Florida community.

103.1 WLOQ-FM has received permission from the Federal Communications Commission to increase its class of service to the community of Orlando, FL (Licensed to Winter Park, FL) from a Class C3 license to a Class C2 FM Radio facility effective upon WLOQ's build-out in January 2009. This new FCC license will allow Smooth Jazz outlet 103.1 WLOQ to effectively increase its power from 25,000 Watts to 50,000 Watts.

103.1 WLOQ-FM will move its primary FM antenna to a new "twice taller tower" in Winter Garden, FL, just west of its current tower site, giving the new 103.1 WLOQ-FM signal far greater geographic coverage of the three county Orlando, FL, Metro Survey Area, and beyond, as well as far greater signal density to better penetrate office buildings, and homes within existing 103.1 WLOQ coverage areas.

The 103.1 WLOQ-FM signal will now cover a far larger section of Central Florida, introducing its Smooth Jazz/Adult Contemporary format to a far larger potential audience including Orlando's newer bedroom communities, and its suburban dwellers and commuters. Lake County, FL, one of the fastest growing areas of Orlando's greater metro area, will now enjoy higher quality primary signal coverage, as will Leesburg to the Northwest, Sumter to the West, Lakeland to the Southwest, and Southern Osceola County to the South-Southeast.

The 103.1 WLOQ newly licensed power increase, will also better serve the 150,000 existing listeners within Orange, Seminole, and Osceola Counties, to which 103.1 WLOQ has served with its Smooth Jazz/Adult Contemporary sound over the past 30 years. Come January 2009, current WLOQ listeners will experience a far stronger signal, more easily tuned-in on table top radios, alarm clock radios, and other less expensive consumer grade radios without a need for external antenna systems. WLOQ's stronger signal and brand new state of the art transmission equipment will broadcast the cleanest, sharpest, FM stereo sound available, with distinct left and right channel stereo separation.

Whether you have been one of the many 103.1 WLOQ loyal listeners, or someone living in an area not yet served with music from a wide selection of Smooth Jazz/Adult Contemporary artists, this new FCC broadcast license for 103.1 WLOQ will enhance your radio listening experience in Orlando, FL. Despite these difficult economic times, look for 103.1 WLOQ to be marketing to the greater surrounding Orlando MSA early in 2009 to promote its new and stronger signal coverage.
